Toyota has partnered with Toyota to create an official, one-of-a-kind 2014 SpongeBob-themed Toyota Highlander. SpongeBob and Toyota fans, alike, should be excited for the custom designed vehicle, which was unveiled on July 13th, Nickelodeon's "SpongeBob Day" at the Padres vs. Giants game in San Diego, California. The exterior of the vehicle features SpongeBob's smiling visage, while the interior displays bright yellow upholstery, and the headrests feature the embroidered faces of SpongeBob, Squidward, Sandy Plankton, Gary, and Mr. Krabs. The headliner is an ocean blue, with reflections airbrushed to give passengers an under-the-sea feeling. As part of the "Happy Driving!" program, the SpongeBob Highlander will visit seven locations, feature character meet-and-greets, and include online promotions and a sweepstakes where families can enter to win a Toyota Highlander of their own.

In addition to allowing fans to interact with SpongeBob in a whole new way, the summer-long program gives families a closer look at the redesigned 2014 Toyota Highlander. The midsize crossover SUV now offers seating for eight passengers, as well as 34 percent more cargo space behind the third row, rear suspension design and 3 inches of additional length. The Highlander offers a carry-over 2.7 liter four cylinder 187 horsepower engine, and a 3.7 liter 270 horsepower engine. An available hybrid model pairs the V6 with an electric motor, and the Highlander comes standard with front-wheel drive, with an available all-wheel drive. Although a SpongeBob-themed paintjob won't be available to everyone, for 2014, the new model does present an evolved exterior, including a new wide-mouthed grille, longer wraparound headlights, more pronounced fender creases, and a stretched rear glass window, for a more open feel and better visibility. To see more about the SpongeBob Highlander, families can visit Nickelodeon's website. To test out a Highlander for themselves, they can stop by a Toyota dealership in early 2014.
