Being named "Truck of the Year" for a 2nd consecutive year, of course! The 2014 Ram 1500 has won over the editors of Motor Trend magazine, the leading magazine that provides an extensive automobile buying guide for consumers. Their award has become popular by showing what brands are a step ahead of the competition with Ram trucks taking the lead. This is the second win in a row for the 1500 and the third win, in general, for Ram, with the Heavy Duty 2500/3500 winning in 2010.
Edward Loh, editor-in-chief of Motor Trend said, "For 2014 we had a large and highly competitive field of contenders. At the end of the day, though, the Ram 1500 
quickly rose to the top. Not only did it withstand our rigorous testing, it thoroughly impressed our judges with its vast array of standard and optional equipment, and, most notable, its fuel-efficient, segment-exclusive EcoDiesel V-6."
The accomplishment was announced to the workers of the Warren Truck Assembly Plant by CEO Sergio Marchionne, the Chairman of Chrysler Group LLC, and Motor Trend editors. Additionally, the workers have even more reason to celebrate as each will be given a $500 bonus for building the award-winning truck.
Reid Bigland, Ram brand chief said, "Half-ton truck customers have been asking for a diesel engine and Ram is the only truck manufacturer to answer the bell and deliver not only best-in-class fuel economy but also 9,200 pounds of towing capability." He states, "In a brutally competitive truck industry, the Ram 1500 is the only vehicle to ever win the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award two years in a row, reaffirming the fact that we have the best truck on the road."
