In addition to previously earned Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick status and National Highway Traffic safety Administration 5-star crash rating, the all-new for 2013 Dodge Dart became the third Chrysler vehicle to achieve the Top Safety+ rating. Dart's safety performance is enhanced by over 60 safety and security features, including 10 standard air bags, and its 68 percent high-strength steel content. The 2013 model was redesigned with more passenger space and a more substantial driving feel. There are four trim levels: SE, SXT, Limited, and GT.
The Dodge Dart's fun-to-drive performance, coupled with its numerous safety features, has made it a top choice for a compact sedan. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety determines crashworthiness of vehicles by rating vehicles "good, acceptable, marginal, or poor," based on performance in five tests: moderate overlap front, side, rollover, rear, and small overlap front. To earn Top safety pick status, a vehicle must receive a rating of "good" in the first four tests, regardless of its ratings in the small overlap front test. To earn the further Top Safety Pick+ status, the vehicle must receive a rating of "good" in four of the five tests, and a rating no less than "acceptable" in the fifth test. Besides the airbags and the high-strength steel content ratio, Chrysler also credits a number of other safety features for the rating, including traction control, electronic stability control with rollover mitigation, and four wheel anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brake force distribution. Some trim packages are also available with blind spot monitoring, rear cross path detection, and a rear-view camera.
