The 2014 restyled Chevrolet Camaro line was introduced at the 2013 New York Auto show, and included the return of the iconic Z/28. The minor body changes for all Camaros include a wider lower mouth, compressed upper grille, and one-piece tail lamps. The Z/28 model, however, is returning with a vengeance. Not seen since 2001, the new Z/28 is lighter, boasting 19 inch wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, thinner rear glass, minimal sound deadening material, manual seat adjustment, and making air-conditioning and a stereo optional. This is a sports car which will appeal to street drivers and track enthusiasts, alike. The Z/28 also features a 7.0 liter V8 engine that was previously reserved for the Corvette. It generates 500 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. A six speed manual transmission puts the power of this engine to the rear wheels.

Additional features include aerodynamic bodywork with fender flares, front and rear spoilers, four-way adjustable mirrors and Pirelli Trofeo tires. The interior will be sparse, as might be expected in a track-focused car, and includes Recaro seats, a flat bottom steering wheel, and matte finish. The design emphasizes the strong visual change from the previous model. With the nine-pound weight reduction, the new Camaro represents a track-capable car that is still legal on the streets. The new Camaro intends to bring back weekend racing culture, but it does it in a way that can only be achieved in the twenty-first century. The mpg remains reasonable for track-ready power and grip.
